I absolutely adore this book. I almost didn’t want to finish it so I could cherish all of the stories and save them for reading on a later date. There are 75 stories in this collection and each one of them offers insight into our own lives by looking at the lives of our precious kittens! The stories are contributed by different people, and each presents a unique view of a different cat, with different personalities and quirks. If you love cats, and even if you don’t, you will love this book.
The stories are all well written and each has some moral to make known. I highly recommend this book. One of my favorite stories is “Waiting” by Dee Aspin, and it begins with the sentence, “Rex just peed on my bathroom rug!.” The story is about a cat that has lost its home and has staked a claim on the home of another family without their permission. Aspin writes, “Sometimes people in our lives can seem incorrigible—downright defensive and mean-spirited. Sometimes it takes awhile for a cat, or a person, to struggle through a difficult season in life… hopefully we will ask God for the longsuffering virtue of love to wait upon our own Rexes.” The story offers good advice and it’s hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. All of the stories have wonderful messages and are very inspiring. Each story is only a few pages long, so it is the perfect book to read “a little at a time,” but “Heavenly Humor for the Cat Lover’s Soul” is so good that you might not want to wait to read the next story!
