According to sleep experts and authors Dr. James B. Maas and Rebecca S. Robbins, most people operate on some level of sleep deprivation. And it’s not hard to understand why – cram packed schedules barely leave room for adequate sleep and that can lead to a host of physical and mental ailments. But is sleep really that important? Do we really need a full eight hours to function? What happens when we don’t get enough?
“Sleep for Success!: Everything You Must Know About Sleep but Are Too Tired To Ask” presents everything you have ever wanted to know about the subject of sleeping…and much, much more! Maas and Robbins tackle the science of sleep, how it affects the body and its various systems, how to figure out the amount of sleep you really need, sleeping disorders and how they are treated, and offer additional resources for further research. Additionally, creative ideas and inventions by those searching for ways to wake up are included – ranging from the practical to the hysterical. I found the book not only to be incredibly informative but entertaining! The authors project a light-hearted but authoritative tone while sprinkling little humorous quips throughout. I absolutely love when an author can successfully add some personality to a non-fiction book and this made “Sleep for Success!: Everything You Must Know About Sleep but Are Too Tired To Ask” a delight to read!
Well-organized with plenty of fact references, the book presents a convincing argument for prioritizing sleep in one’s life. I found no apparent editing errors and its presentation is professional and articulate. And while other sleep books may cause its readers to yawn and drift off, this one will have them up reading into the night (not too late though!). The language and tone make for a fascinating study.
“Sleep for Success!: Everything You Must Know About Sleep but Are Too Tired To Ask” is a wake up call for the tired and worn out! Authors James B. Maas and Rebecca S. Robbins show that sleeping with intention can make you more energetic and healthier. You’ll never look at bedtime the same way again!
