Juicing is one of the best ways to restore the body to health while getting the impact of nutrients into the system immediately.  There is very little digesting that has to be done by the body when drinking juices therefore all the vitamins and minerals go directly into the system without the body having to do the hard work. Many alternative health practitioners advocate juicing on a regular basis while some encourage on day per week of just juicing.

For the purpose of the review we are asked to test three recipes.  For the first one I made “Cauli-Slaw.” Although the recipe only made one serving I ended up getting the nutrients of 1/2 head cauliflower, 1/8 cabbage, 2 carrots, 2 stalks celery, 1/4 onion and 1 apple.  The apple added to the sweetness and made it more palatable.  I did like this combination but I felt there was a bit too much onion.  Next time I will use less but of course it will depend on the size of the onion.

For the second combination I made “Rust Proofer #1” which is a great immune booster.  Using sweet potato, peppermint, carrots and broccoli, the combination was, shall I say, interesting.  I had to wait until the starch settled at the bottom, discard it, and then drink only the juice. For me, this isn’t a combination I would make again but it doesn’t mean that someone else wouldn’t like it. I encourage you to try it.

The third recipe I tested was “Berry Fine.”  Using red grapes, blueberries, blackberries and lemon, the drink was sweet/sour to the palate.   I liked it very much and will make it again.

“The Juicing Bible” isn’t only a book of recipes; it’s also a resource for body systems and health conditions that would benefit from juicing. There is also a section on food allergies which seem to be very prevalent in today’s society.

Of all the juicing books I’ve seen and used, I believe this is one of the better ones.  Pat Crocker gives a huge variety of combinations that can be used to make a palatable and nutritious drink.  If you have been contemplating juicing, I encourage you to check out “The Juicing Bible, Second Edition” because I feel you will be pleased with seeing how many combinations can be made.
