Reading through “Easy Everyday Slow Cooker Recipes” by Donna-Marie Pye, I was a bit dismayed. Which recipe to pick? They all looked so good and so easy to follow. I finally settled on a few, but the ones that my family loved (right down to my picky little 6 year-old) was the Mexican Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Low and Slow Turkey Joes. The directions were simple and the recipes came out delicious!
Sometimes it is really hard to find a meal that my small family of three can all agree on, due to a picky child and a husband that has issues with spicy stuff, but these recipes were awesome. They were flavorful, hearty, and definitely hit the spot. My husband was the envy of his lunch group at work with the soup. He shared some with them and now they want the cookbook!
I really like that there is a time conversion chart in the front for converting fast cooking recipes to crockpot timed ones. It really came in handy as I forgot to set up the tortilla soup until last minute and I ended up making it a fast cooking recipe. The instructions Ms. Pye uses are very easy to follow and understand. I love that there are tips on the side for how to replace ingredients with others if you are out of certain items.
There is one whole section on 2 day recipes! THIS IS AWESOME!!! One day you make the entree then the next day you use those leftovers to make a whole new dish! This is great for working parents like my husband and I. Sometimes we don’t have enough time to go into a lot of cooking detail, or are just too tired. Just setting up a crockpot with all the wonderful meals in this book is a great time saver and we can spend more time together as a family! I think I may buy an additional slow cooker just to do a dessert item from the back of the book to go along with the entrees!
In short, I think “Easy Everyday Slow Cooker Recipes” by Donna-Marie Pye is a must have book for everyone. The recipes are easy, delicious, and filling. This book is also great for beginner cooks, with the easy preparation instructions and the slow cooker doing all the rest!
