“Collision Course” by author Frank Lowe is fast-paced thriller, full of twists and turns. It will keep you guessing until the very end, while also making you curious about secrets we all keep. The story follows Scott Dennis and Bentley Thornton, two young men who are unhappy with their careers, making choices that will leave them either dead or involved in a terrorist organization – where they might as well be dead.
Scott Dennis is a ruthless network reporter with Blaylock Media who finds himself slapped with a multi-million-dollar lawsuit by a group of uncompromising congressmen. Dennis refuses to give up his source, which makes his boss an unhappy camper. Sent to see Axelrod, the station’s lawyer, Dennis is given a choice: don’t reveal your source, face possible prison time and a ruined career or reveal it, ruin careers and his effectiveness in the news field. What Dennis doesn’t realize is Axelrod and his assistant Jesus, have done a thorough investigation on him and know exactly what his stance would be. He also doesn’t realize he has sold his soul to the devil.
Bentley Thornton is living a lie and has been for the past eight years. Carlo, his bodyguard, advisor, and friend is concerned that Bentley will reveal his true self, which will bring serious problems for them both. Thornton works at Thornton Films working on charity documentaries, but in his heart, he knows they are a coverup for something devious. When Bentley’s elusive father calls and relates he is in trouble, Bentley knows his life as it is will no longer exist.
Lowe has a great storytelling style, and that, combined with his true-to-life characters, made this a ‘gotcha’ book from the opening page straight through to the end. All the characters were well-crafted and didn’t let you speculate who the bad guy truly was or what was going on. Filled with intrigue, loyalty, love, sex, hate, terrorism, and so much more, the author pulls it all together in an exciting read with a fantastic conclusion that I never saw coming.
Frank Lowe has the amazing ability to write a story that sucks you into it and never wants to let you go. “Collision Course” is a gay action thriller that will appeal to a wide audience. For those who have difficulty with this genre, I say read it, as it is so much more than a gay thriller. I highly recommend this book as it covers many current topics on the news, is well written and easy to read.
