In “Longing,” by Jamie K. Schmidt, we learn the story of Anya and Clint. Anya has had her fair share of ups and downs when it comes to life, so when her dream guy shows interest in her she is a bit apprehensive to say the least. Anya has been watching and lusting after Clint for months and as it turns out he has been lusting after her too. They finally have that long awaited meeting by the pool during one of Dante’s classes, and they set up their first date. Everything seems to be going perfectly between them, they enjoy each other’s company for a few days and everything is falling into place. Soon after doubt and self-esteem issues arise and Anya starts to wonder if Clint really has feelings her or if it’s all some cruel joke to date the fat chick?

While Anya is wrestling with her feelings her ex-fiancée, Cesare, and his girlfriend/arch nemesis, Rita, show up and throw more fuel on the fire that is raging through her mind. Cesare tells Anya he wants her back and is willing to leave his wife and Rita to make it happen, all the while Rita threatens Anya to leave him alone. So, who will Anya choose her new love, Clint; or old flame’ Cesare?

I think Jamie K. Schmidt did a wonderful job keeping my attention and she told the story as if we were two old girlfriends gossiping on her couch at home. Schmidt spares no details when it comes to her reader’s imagination. She gracefully paints a vivid picture.

“Longing” by Jamie K. Schmidt is definitely for the more mature audience with its strong theme of sexual desire. Being a straight female, I really enjoyed this book and I felt as though I was right there experiencing the kinky lifestyle with her. Going forward in this series I would love to see Dante’s true colors come out and a storyline on his love life.
