“The Living Legend: A Last Enemy Prequel” is an intense political action thriller by Dan E. Hendrickson.

Normally books about the military, unless a real-life account, are not my go-to thing. Therefore, I was thrilled, and a bit surprised, to have read this book in one sitting, I enjoyed it so very much. Mr. Hendrickson has written an extremely interesting book about two completely different people, from two completely different worlds, who join together to fight for their families and for the freedoms in which all people are entitled.

The main character in the story, Tommy Williams, is a Navy SEAL who is on a mission to seek revenge. Makena Aalee is a woman on the other side of the world from Tommy, who is on a mission to save her family and her world from a horrible fact of life—modern-day slavery. As the book opens, the readers learn the reasons both characters are who they are and why they do what they do. All the characters, from the main character right down the line to each and every supporting character, are so thoughtfully written and so well developed, that the reader is in for an incredible thrill ride with every character being so enjoyable and someone you just want to know more about. Add in an action-filled story and a surprising, and very sweet, ending and this is a fantastic read that I would highly recommend to everyone.

I love the way this author is able to jump back and forth from place to place and keep us enthralled about every single thing going on in every character’s life—both the good things and the bad things. He describes the different environments and events perfectly and allows us to cheer for the good guys, despise the bad guys, laugh at the funny things, and cry at the sad things. The book never loses its focus or its ability to keep us involved and caring about what will happen next.

I think that any fan of an action story and/or a military story will absolutely love “The Living Legend” and will want to read many more containing the characters and their futures. Mr. Hendrickson has hit a home run with this novel and I, for one, look forward to many more adventures with Tommy and his team.
