This is the story of the life of Khuda Buksh, a leader in the insurance industry, written by his son, Muhammad Obaidur Rahim. The book is compiled through interviews with those Buksh knew well, both personally and within the insurance industry, as well as reflections from his family members who knew him the best. It is the story of a man who truly believed in himself and what he was doing and who dedicated himself to those beliefs.

This book allows the reader a glimpse into the life of a good man. It shows how Khuda was able to serve his people and others over the years in three countries (Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh) and how his hard work and diligence to his cause established a new movement in the life insurance industry while he dealt with much prejudice in these cultures over the topic. The reader can also see and feel just how much of an influence he had on those people he trained and worked with in the industry during his illustrious career. He spent his life and career as a leader and a motivator to all of those around him and established fair and honest practices in the industry that have survived now that he is gone.

Mr. Buksh’s son has given the reader an honest and straight-forward account of a man who, in addition to being a good father who cared for his family, became a leader in a world that is often fraught with lies and fraud. Khuda was a great teacher to those who wanted to follow in his footsteps in the industry, and he was a true humanitarian. As the reader, we are able to see that what Mr. Rahim’s father accomplished definitely had a huge influence on this period of time in South Asian history.

I think “Khuda Buksh: The Pioneer of Life Insurance in Bangladesh” is a well-written book that will definitely appeal to those who are studying business relations or the insurance industry, as well as those who are already professionals and want to learn more about management practices and how to be a true and respected leader.
