“A Light Amongst the Stars: The Journey of a Psychic Medium- A Message of Hope” chronicles the life of Amelia, an Australian psychic medium who sees a bright future for humanity. Dr. Mark W. Burns writes a concise biography of Amelia’s beginnings and family history with the gift. He describes the inner workings of Amelia’s service to individuals who come to her for readings and enables the reader to get inside the mind of a psychic medium to learn how she deals with clients, divine and dark energies, and messages from beyond the grave.

This book was very interesting on many levels. A lot of Amelia’s experiences may sound familiar to people who have read others’ accounts of life after death, but if you follow any particular religion, some of the ideas presented by Amelia as fact (such as past lives and there is only love that exists), will challenge your thinking.

I felt the author did a fine job of helping us understand the challenges Amelia lives with daily regarding her gift. I learned a lot about how she perceives things and gained an appreciation for how difficult it can be for her sometimes when taking on the cares of those she helps in their time of need. It takes a special person to offer the kind of attention she does to those seeking her input. It was enjoyable to learn about her process, what she sees for humanity’s future, and puzzle over some of the baffling spiritual revelations about our existence (both here and beyond) that can be challenging to believe unless you’ve seen them yourself. I particularly enjoyed reading what she sees ahead of us in the future and how that explains what we’re seeing right now in the news.

This book is very easy to read at just over a hundred pages. The chapters are brief and clearly written without a lot of fluff. Dr. Mark W. Burns writes in a way that doesn’t pass judgment on Amelia or any who might disagree with her; he presents her viewpoint and experiences only, allowing the reader to decide for themselves whether to believe her. My only question upon finishing the book is, will there be a sequel? From the sound of it, Amelia is about to embark on a much bigger venture and since the story is yet to be told, it left me wondering if there will be more to come in terms of a second installment.

As was the author’s and Amelia’s intention, I do feel this book could provide comfort to those seeking answers about the future of the world, themselves, and their deceased loved ones. I recommend it to people intrigued by spiritual matters and mysteries of the universe, to psychics and mediums who may want to use Amelia’s experiences to compare their own, and to anyone open to learning more about themselves. People with strict religious views will probably prefer to sit this one out.
