“The Timepiece Legacy: Book One of the Timepiece Series” by award-winning author Kevin D. Miller is a compelling time-travel family drama that will move and entertain you. You will meet Dr. Bodhi McMullin, a renowned Southern California orthopedic surgeon, once a UCLA star quarterback. This accomplished man is all of that and is charming and handsome as well. However, all is not perfect in his world.
He has a seventeen-year-old daughter named Cassie, who blames him for her parents’ divorce, but the truth is he never wanted to divorce his childhood sweetheart, Savanah. Another stressor is that he is losing his precious grandmother and she is waiting for him in a hospice room. Before she dies, she discloses a family secret to him and gives him an alluring timepiece. The secret is that his grandfather isn’t his grandfather by blood and that Bodhi is really the grandson of a Revolutionary War captain. This timepiece has mysterious powers that will enable him to travel through time. His sensibilities as a physician cause him to wonder about her mental state. But what if she’s telling the truth? What if it’s real?
Miller is an author whose writing style will enchant the reader. The story, which echoes notes of his own experience, is irresistible, his characters are well-crafted, and the plot is underpinned with love. Add the time-travel mystery, and you have a winning story. Bodhi is faced with making very hard choices. This is what you expect in a high-stakes drama; it’s so nice to see this unfold in a family story as well.
I like how the story begins with his grandmother, and just builds from there. A dangerous wormhole separates father and daughter in time. He will do anything for his daughter, and mend their broken bond, but will it be enough? This is book one of a trilogy, and if the two following books are as good, you will be in for some of the best writing and storytelling in the genre. Readers will find themselves emotionally invested in the characters and will love the story. Reading “The Timepiece Legacy: Book One of the Timepiece Series” by Kevin D. Miller will make you an instant fan.
