“On the Trail of the Wind’s Tears” by Lynne Armstrong-Jones is the sequel to her book, “On the Trail of the Ruthless Warlock.”

The Witch of the Great East Wood is dying. An evil wizard is after her power and is draining her magic out of her. She sends out a trail of tears in the wind so that her plight will be known. A band of warriors and sorcerers unite to go on a quest to try to save the magic. They have to defeat this nemesis whom they had thought had already been conquered during The Great Quest. The band sets out together, hoping to use their various skills and powers to defeat the wizard. Each person has a talent or a skill to offer. In addition to magic, some have warrior skills. Some of their histories with each other unite them, while others entangle them. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses and must combine their forces in order to defeat the powerful wizard.

Not having read the first book in the series, I felt that this one stood well on its own, The author does a seamless job of catching the reader up on what events transpired in the first story. That said, I recommend reading the first story in order to greater appreciate the nuances of the returning characters as they continue their mission.

The author did a beautiful job of weaving magic into this story. She brings the characters alive as she takes us inside their thoughts. We see both their strengths and weaknesses. I loved being able to get wrapped up into what was happening and the magical elements are a wonderful addition. As I reflect back on this tale, I feel like I was watching a movie, rather than reading words. The settings were well described and fit perfectly into the plot. The only time I felt disappointment was when the story ended!

I highly recommend “On the Trail of the Wind’s Tears” by Lynne Armstrong-Jones to fans of fantasy.
